La música nacional en el Ecuador ha visto un crecimiento interesante en los últimos años y cada vez son más los artistas independientes de distintos géneros que como Mateo Kingman se han posicionado en nichos varios. ¡Cuando nuestro aliado DeContrabando Show nos invitó a su entrevista para la segunda temporada del programa, todo el #FrontRowFamily no pudo resistir la tentación de conocer un poco más a Mateo!
Es así como hoy hablamos con el talento detrás del album RESPIRA. Un cantautor ecuatoriano que se ha consolidado como uno de los de los artistas con mayor proyección dentro de los talentos nacionales de los últimos años, tanto como solista o como integrante de EVHA (El Viejo Hombre de los Andes).

Mateo ha tenido un proceso de evolución musical, desde Maki a Mateo Kingman, donde se proyecta de una manera más honesta. Como solista su música mantiene un equilibrio entre lo orgánico de la y música latina lo universal de otros géneros como el hip hop, rock y pop; además de una investigación de instrumentos como bombos, tambores, pingullos, y sonidos naturales.
Mientras que EVHA, proyecto que mantiene con Alejandro Mendoza, Renata Nieto y Sebastian Schmiedl, es una fusión de música andina, esmeraldeña con música electrónica y una propuesta audiovisual para sus presentaciones.

Creció en un entorno natural lo que se ve reflejado al momento de componer sus temas y elegir sus atuendos al subirse al escenario. Sus referencias musicales han sido realmente amplias, dese música latinoamericana como: Atahualpa Yupanqui, Violeta Parra, Víctor Jara, entre otros; hasta bandas como The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Control Machete, Nirvana, etc.
Sobre su estilo nos dice: “no soy bueno para cachar la ropa chévere y la ropa turra. Es un proceso muy natural”. Para sus presentaciones utiliza regalos de su mamá, desde huesos hasta telas que pertenecen a diferentes culturas amazónicas. Elementos y amuletos que lo transportan del escenario a sus lugares de inspiración.
