Dentro de todas las piezas del tablero Carla se identifica con el caballo (incluso lo lleva tatuado) porque es la única pieza que puede saltar. Lo relaciona directamente con su vida, como cuando salió del colegio a los 15 años sin dejar de estudiar aparte, pero sobretodo arriesgarse por su pasión.

NOT JUST A GAME

Para Carla, éste es un juego inclusivo, sin distinguir edades, raza, género o religión. Una de las frases que nos comenta es que “si la gente no va al ajedrez, el ajedrez va a la gente” por lo que busca promover su práctica espacios más concurridos, cómo el Café Democrático, plazas, parques e incluso cárceles.

Más allá de los torneos internacionales, Carla ve al ajedrez como un factor de cambio por lo que está vinculada con la defensa de derechos en especial a la Marcha de las Putas donde parte de su participación incluye organizar talleres y dar clases sobre el juego a diferentes activistas de derechos humanos, derechos reproductivos, ambientalistas, etc.

La idea principal es que todos estos activistas puedan utilizar las bases del ajedrez para sus diferentes causas y al mismo tiempo ella puede aprender de todos estos personajes ecuatorianos.

Ella establece un vínculo entre la moda y su pasión, el ajedrez, desde la oportunidad de llegar a la gente con un producto socialmente responsable, sin dejar de lado la constate innovación y búsqueda de soluciones que se aplican tanto en la moda como en el tablero.
